Lucuma (Pouteria lucuma) - the gold of the Incas. Lucuma is a subtropical and evergreen tree that bears approx. 1.5 cm large and yellow-green fruits - the lucuma fruit. In the times of the Incas, it was used in many ways and therefore cultivated on a large scale. The Lucuma tree is native to the valleys of the Andes in Peru, Chile and Ecuador. The plant also grows on a small scale in parts of Asia, North and South America. The lucuma powder tastes sweet and is recommended for use in smoothies, muesli and baked goods.
