Liquorice (lat. Glycyrrhiza glabra) is a plant that today grows mainly in the Mediterranean region and China. The shrub can grow up to 2 metres high and has a yellow, woody root. Liquorice tastes first and foremost: sweet. The roots are even up to 50 times sweeter than sugar. The well-known liquorice is made from the thickened root juice of liquorice. The sweet taste is, for example, the reason why sweet, flattering words are called liquorice shavings.
Licorice contains 2 to 15 % of so-called triterpene saponins. Mainly glycyrrhizin (Greek for "sweet root") is found in it, as well as other flavonides and coumarin.
According to a study from Japan, the glycyrrhizin contained in liquorice root is said to calm the upper respiratory tract.
Cut, dried liquorice roots from organic cultivation. To ensure the excellent quality, the raw material is controlled and bottled in our manufactory in Germany. Free from any additives and therefore extremely compatible. Suitable for vegans and all those who pay attention to a balanced, relaxed lifestyle.
Preparation:
Pour 1-2 teaspoons (approx. 4-5 g) of liquorice root over approx. 150 ml of bubbling boiling water. Allow to steep for 10 to 15 minutes and then strain. Drink a cup of freshly prepared tea 2 to 3 times a day.
