The currant (Ribes) belongs to the gooseberry family (Grossulariaceae). The leaves of the black and red currant are collected and dried shortly after flowering and are ideal for making tea. However, they can also be used in the kitchen as a tasty ingredient and as an aromatic addition to soups or salads.
Preparation:
Blackcurrant leaf tea: Pour 2-3 g of blackcurrant leaves (1-1.5 teaspoons) into 0.25 liters of boiling water. After about 5 minutes, strain through a tea strainer.
