Wild garlic, also known as Allium ursinum, is a popular plant in cooking and natural medicine. It belongs to the allium family and grows mainly in deciduous forests and humid areas of Europe. The characteristic heart-shaped leaves of wild garlic appear in spring and give off an intense garlic smell. This scent makes it easily recognizable and distinguishes it from similar plants. The leaves can be used fresh or processed into pesto, soups or salads to add a spicy note to dishes.
