Green cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum), also known as cardamom, belongs to the ginger family (Zingiberaceae). The herbaceous plant can grow up to 5 meters high and has yellow-bluish flowers. The seeds of the flowers are processed into the aromatic spice cardamom. The word cardamom derives from the ancient Indian word "kárdama[c]h", which means dirt. The plant originally comes from southern India, Sri Lanka and Iraq. Nowadays the plant is mainly cultivated in Guatemala, as well as Tanzania, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam. The spice cardamom can be used in many ways; the Swedes use it to refine their baked goods, in India cardamom is used for curries and rice dishes and Arabs enjoy their hot drinks with cardamom.
Our ground cardamom powder is from controlled organic cultivation. To ensure the excellent quality, the powder is checked and filled in our factory in Germany. Free from any additives. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
