Turmeric is a plant species within the ginger family. It is a herbaceous plant with an underground sprout, which is also called yellow saffron. The tuber is yellow in color and has a spicy, hot aroma. Ashwagandha (lt. withania somnifera) has become one of the most popular plants in Ayurveda and is known as a potent home remedy in India. Ashwagandha is also known as sleeping berry, winter cherry or Indian ginseng. Ashwagandha, which is used in Indian Ayurveda teachings, is a plant species from the nightshade family (Withania). It is a herbaceous plant, 30 to 150 cm tall, whose roots are one of the most commonly used remedies in Ayurvedic applications - comparable to the importance of ginseng in Chinese medicine.
